SOUTHPAW FLHC have released the music video for their new single, “Nail In The Coffin,” offering another preview of their upcoming full-length album, The Standard, due out July 31 via Spinefarm.
Built on breakdowns, driving percussion, and singalong-ready hardcore energy, the track continues the Jacksonville band’s blend of traditional hardcore with influences from punk, metal, and hip-hop.
Despite its title, vocalist Daryn LaMontagne says “Nail In The Coffin” is ultimately a song about transformation rather than defeat.
According to LaMontagne, the lyrics explore leaving behind past struggles, destructive habits, and limiting circumstances in favor of personal growth. He describes the song as a conversation between one’s past and present self, emphasizing that people are not defined by where they come from or the hardships they face.
“The character you build and the person you become along the way is key,” LaMontagne explained, adding that the song represents “a final goodbye to your old ways” and the symbolic act of burying a weaker version of yourself in pursuit of reaching one’s full potential.
The track appears on The Standard, which the band describes as an uncompromising collection fueled by discipline, determination, and passion.

Since releasing their self-titled EP in 2020, SOUTHPAW FLHC have steadily built momentum through a series of standalone singles, DIY touring, and performances alongside bands including WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING, TRACHEOTOMY, BODYSNATCHER, SURFACED, and HOODS. Their partnership with Spinefarm marks the band’s next chapter as they continue expanding their reach.
In support of The Standard, SOUTHPAW FLHC will launch a late summer headline tour beginning with an album release show on August 1 at Hardlove in Jacksonville, Florida. The trek will continue through September with stops across the southern, midwestern, and eastern United States before concluding in Orlando, Florida.
