SPEED STROKE have released “Italian Coglione,” the second single from their upcoming fourth studio album, Damage Control, which is scheduled for release on August 21 via Scarlet Records.
The new single reflects on the complicated relationship many Italians have with their homeland. According to the band, when the place where you were born and raised becomes “the world’s zoo,” you may end up being the monkey yourself. Despite the frustrations and disappointments caused by Italy’s fading beauty, the song embraces the idea of remaining devoted to it—willingly, hopelessly, and proudly becoming a coglione for your country.
“Italian Coglione” features artwork and song intro visuals by Stefano Mainini (Steve Emm), while the album cover and overall artwork were created by acclaimed artist Claudio Elias Scialabba.
Damage Control marks the band’s fourth full-length release and was mixed and mastered by Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse) at Mass Destruction Production. The album features Dario Capacci (Trick Or Treat) on drums and a guest vocal appearance from Giorgia Colleluori (Sinner, IT’sALIE) on the track “Blessed By Misery.”
Drawing influence from bands such as H.E.A.T, Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstar, Crashdïet, W.A.S.P., D-A-D, and Skid Row, SPEED STROKE continue to blend modern Scandinavian sleaze rock with the spirit of classic ’80s street metal.
Lyrically, Damage Control explores the tension between confronting the consequences of past actions and embracing change through controlled destruction. The band describes the album as a reflection on the struggle between remaining in the comfort zone or breaking free into the unknown, delivered through powerful riffs, guitar solos, and high-energy vocals.
