Detroit death metallers Temple of Void have returned with their crushing new single “Soulburn”, accompanied by an official lyric video featuring striking visuals from The Crawl’s album artwork.
The track offers a brutal preview of the band’s upcoming fifth full-length, The Crawl, out March 6, 2026 on Relapse Records.
While their signature death-doom weight remains intact, The Crawl sees Temple of Void expanding their palette, pulling in grunge and post-punk textures alongside their cavernous riffs and granite-hard rhythms. Now operating as a four-piece, the band lean into raw dynamics and a more “human” sound, delivering what they describe as simply a heavy-ass record—no genre boxes required.
Lyrically, the album explores themes of psychology, fear, and consequence—an allegory of life’s darker paths and humanity’s monstrous potential. From the opener “Poison Icon” to the looming closer “The Twin Stranger”, The Crawl is both oppressive and emotionally charged.
Recorded during a freezing January session at GodCity Studio and mastered at Audiosiege, the album captures Temple of Void at their most visceral and evolved.
