German atmospheric black metal band The Great Sea dropped a new track today, March 20, 2025. You can stream “Upright in Nothing” now on YouTube and all major platforms. It’s the lead single from their debut full-length, set for release later this year on AOP Records.

Formed in 2022 in Bavaria, The Great Sea builds on the legacy of acts like Dark Fortress and Secrets of the Moon. The lineup—featuring Gràb’s vocals, K’s guitars, and T’s drums—delivers icy riffs and haunting melodies. “Upright in Nothing” runs over eight minutes, blending raw aggression with a chilling, expansive sound. Recorded at Woodshed Studio with V. Santura mixing, it’s a sharp taste of what’s coming.
Posts on X (former Twitter) show early buzz, with fans linking it to Germany’s black metal roots. The band’s Instagram teases more soon—pre-orders aren’t live yet, but AOP’s site has details. Check the track and hear Bavaria’s cold edge for yourself.
