Swedish melodic metal band TUNGSTEN have released their new single “Fuego Del Sol,” offering another preview of their forthcoming studio album, Ashes, due October 9 via PERCEPTION – Powered by Reigning Phoenix Music.
“Fuego Del Sol” finds TUNGSTEN venturing into new territory by incorporating Spanish and Latin American influences into their established melodic metal sound. Heavy guitar riffs and soaring melodies remain at the core of the track, but a warmer, more rhythmic approach gives the song a distinctive character within the band’s catalog.
Parts of the song are also performed in Spanish, with vocalist Mike Andersson explaining that the influence has a personal connection.
“Parts of the song are in Spanish, which made sense for the feel we were going for. It’s a slightly different track for us, with a more rhythmic and warm character.”
Andersson adds that his wife is Spanish and that the cultural influence naturally found its way into the song. Coming from Northern Europe, he says the band was particularly attracted to an atmosphere that felt significantly different from their surroundings.
TUNGSTEN Rise From the Ashes
Ashes follows TUNGSTEN’s 2024 album, The Grand Inferno. After spending much of 2025 touring and performing live, the band turned its attention toward writing the follow-up and further developing the combination of heaviness, melody and massive choruses that has defined its recent material.
The new album also features a notable guest appearance from Sonata Arctica vocalist Tony Kakko on “The North Will Rise.”
Since arriving with their 2019 debut We Will Rise, TUNGSTEN have steadily expanded their sound across subsequent releases Tundra, Bliss and The Grand Inferno. Ashes continues that progression while introducing additional influences, as demonstrated by the Latin-inspired character of “Fuego Del Sol.”

TUNGSTEN were formed in 2016 by drummer Anders Johansson alongside his sons, bassist and keyboardist Karl Johansson and guitarist Nick Johansson. Vocalist Mike Andersson subsequently completed the lineup.
Rooted in classic heavy metal while incorporating a modern melodic approach, the Swedish quartet have built an increasingly international following through their studio releases and extensive touring.
The band have previously toured alongside Bloodbound, Firewind, Sonata Arctica and All For Metal, while their festival appearances include Sweden Rock Festival, Leyendas Del Rock, RockHarz Festival, Midalidare Metal Fest and Riverside Rock Fest.
TUNGSTEN Live
Following summer appearances at Hellsinki Metal Festival and Vita Rockfest, TUNGSTEN will hit the road in October for the Anthems of Steel Tour 2026, co-headlining alongside INDUCTION with KILMARA appearing as special guests.
The tour begins October 7 in Herford, Germany, and continues through Germany, Switzerland and Austria before wrapping up October 18 in Selb.
TUNGSTEN will then launch their own Ashes Tour, beginning October 22 in Lund and visiting Gothenburg, Örebro, Oslo and Stockholm. The band are also confirmed for Epic Fest 2027 in Roskilde, Denmark.
