True Norwegian black metal institution 1349 is now streaming the full performance of their Winter Mass concert exclusively via Black Metal Promotion. The set was filmed on November 20, 2021 in the band’s hometown of Oslo (NO) at Parkteatret, capturing the group in peak, fire-breathing form. Fans can watch the entire performance:

In addition to the live album announcement, 1349 has also been confirmed for the first wave of artists performing at Beyond the Gates 2026, which returns to Bergen (NO) from July 29 – August 1, 2026. Tickets are on sale here.
The cover artwork and layouts for Winter Mass were created by renowned Norwegian artist Kim Diaz Holm, who has documented more than 2,000 concerts—often while sketching from the pit. Holm first connected with 1349 after drawing them at Inferno Festival and Hulen in 2012, and has since illustrated numerous live shows and merch pieces for the band.

Formed in 1997 by vocalist Ravn and bassist Seidemann as a reaction against black metal’s mid-90s stylistic drift, 1349 have spent nearly 30 years reigniting the genre’s grim, primal flame.
Joined by guitarist Archaon and legendary drummer Frost (Satyricon), the band has scorched stages worldwide, performing at Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, and touring alongside Cannibal Corpse and Carcass. Across eight studio albums, 1349 have remained unwavering in their mission: to channel pure, unfiltered Norwegian black metal.
Now, following their eighth studio record The Wolf & The King, 1349 return with a powerful live document. Though recorded shortly after pandemic restrictions lifted, Winter Mass erupts with the same ferocity that has defined their legacy. Classics like “Sculptor of Flesh” blaze with unrestrained violence, while newer material—such as the breakneck “Striding the Chasm”, is captured with the same intensity that inspired Holm’s explosive cover art.
“I will always be here / In all ways in all times,” Ravn snarls on “I Am Abomination.” Nearly three decades on, the line stands as a testament to the band’s enduring firepower.
