Chilean dark metal band ATER have unveiled their new single and music video “Sleep,” the first taste of their forthcoming full-length album, Everlasting, due January 29, 2027 via Torque Records.
“Sleep” finds ATER moving beyond the shadowy brutality of their previous material and embracing a softer, more emotionally driven side of their sound. Built around a slow, deliberate pace, the track combines crushing heaviness with serene clean passages and intimate vocals, creating a dark and dreamlike atmosphere rooted in gothic romanticism.
Frontman Fernando Bühring explains that the song represents a new creative direction for the band:
“This is a very different release for us, and I’m sure most of our listeners will be surprised. I have been exploring and expanding the musical boundaries of ATER, and this song is an expression of that. Freedom. Freedom to express myself.”
Bühring describes “Sleep” as a deeply personal composition and one he wouldn’t have imagined himself writing only months earlier. The accompanying music video was created with a small team and directed by ATER drummer Vincent Zbinden.
The track introduces the expanded musical palette the band developed while creating Everlasting, combining ATER’s extreme metal foundation with clean vocals, atmospheric passages and gothic rock influences.
Everlasting Arrives January 2027
Everlasting was produced by Fernando Bühring and recorded at Torque Records. Daniel Lancaster handled the mix, while Tony Lindgren of Fascination Street Studios mastered the album. The album artwork was created by Travis Smith, with Bühring designing the artwork for “Sleep.”
The eight-track record follows ATER’s sophomore album, Somber, released in 2024, as well as the 2025 singles “The Fall” and “Venus.”

Based in Santiago, Chile, ATER describe their music as Dark Metal or Extreme Dark Metal, combining elements of extreme metal and gothic rock with an introspective and emotionally direct approach.
The band released its debut album, Eternal Gray Spiral, in 2018 through Insania Recordings before following with Somber via Torque Records in 2024.
ATER have since taken their music internationally, touring Europe alongside acts including BATUSHKA, VLTIMAS, GOD DETHRONED, VENOM INC., KRISIUN, HATE, POSSESSED, TERRORIZER, SUICIDAL ANGELS and NIGHTFALL. The band performed 110 shows during 2025 alone, including a Santiago appearance supporting CRADLE OF FILTH and a performance at Turock Festival in Essen, Germany.
ATER currently consists of Fernando Bühring, Vincent Zbinden, Christian Vallejos and Javier Ciudad.
