Although the evening was billed as a career-spanning celebration of Ayreon, one of the most talked-about moments came when mastermind Arjen Lucassen dipped into his Star One project for a surprise performance of “The Year of ’41”, taken from Revel In Time.
Making its live debut, the track proved to be a standout highlight of the set. Dino Jelusick delivered a powerhouse vocal performance, while Timo Somers unleashed a guitar solo. Joost van den Broek added another layer of intensity with a virtuosic synth lead, bringing the studio cut to life on stage.
Despite never being performed live prior to this event, “The Year of ’41” was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd, cementing its place as one of the night’s defining moments.
