Solo pagan black metal project SERPENT LORD will release its long-awaited debut album, The Once Forgotten Ways of Old, on May 29, 2026 via Eisenwald Records. The project has also revealed its first single, “Aries Ram”, now available to stream via Bandcamp.
SERPENT LORD first emerged in 2003 as a solitary pagan black metal vessel forged by Jake Superchi (UADA, Ceremonial Castings). Although the project’s first full-length was recorded in 2005, it was abruptly shelved and remained dormant for nearly two decades. Now, in the Year of the Snake, that original vision has been resurrected and fully realized as The Once Forgotten Ways of Old, preserving the essence of its earliest incarnation.
The album was re-recorded between 2022 and 2025 in the Pacific Northwest, with Superchi handling recording, engineering, and mixing duties. Mastering was completed by Arthur Rizk. The release also features artwork and logo design by Kris Verwimp, alongside photography by Peter Beste.

Originally existing in the shadows with only a handful of demos, SERPENT LORD carried a vision that never faded. Across the years, fragments of compositions and ideas were preserved, waiting for the right moment to take form. That moment has now arrived, culminating in a work that reflects both its origins and its evolution.
Early material hinted at the project’s defining sound: a balance between melodic grandeur and unrestrained aggression, seamlessly shifting between atmospheric passages and raw intensity. With The Once Forgotten Ways of Old, that vision is fully realized. Drawing heavily from the spirit of ’90s pagan black metal, the album delivers expansive riffing, evocative songwriting, and a dynamic interplay between harshness and atmosphere.
The result is a triumphant and immersive record—fierce, melodic, and steeped in ritualistic energy. The production retains a raw edge while achieving clarity and depth, allowing the album’s intensity to remain uncompromised.
