Native American atmospheric black metal project Blackbraid, led by Jon Krieger (aka Sgah’gahsowáh), has released a new single and video for “Wardrums at Dawn on the Day of My Death” on May 22, 2025. The track is the first from their upcoming third album, Blackbraid III, set for an independent release on August 8, 2025. The video, produced by Moshmallows, captures the song’s chaotic energy, blending raw black metal aggression with haunting indigenous elements, as noted in recent posts on X. This follows Krieger’s tradition of weaving Native American history and nature into his music, a hallmark of his previous albums Blackbraid I (2022) and Blackbraid II (2023), which earned critical acclaim for their emotional depth and cultural resonance.

Tracklist:
- Dusk (Eulogy)
- Wardrums at Dawn on the Day of My Death
- The Dying Breath of a Sacred Stag
- The Earth Is Weeping
- God of Black Blood
- Traversing the Forest of Eternal Dusk

The 10-track Blackbraid III, continues to explore Krieger’s Mohawk heritage and spiritual connection to the Adirondack wilderness. Produced by Neil Schneider, with artwork by Adam Burke and Adrian Baxter, the album promises to expand on Blackbraid’s signature sound—melding tremolo-picked melodies, tribal instrumentation like flutes, and atmospheric acoustic passages. A pre-release listening event is scheduled at the Fire in the Mountains Festival in Montana (July 25–27). Blackbraid also announced their first North American headlining tour starting September 18 in San Diego, with a stop on July 25 at Blackfeet Nation, Montana.
