Tampa, Florida extreme metal band BLOOD OF ANGELS have released a powerful new single, “The Last Rites”, offering the first glimpse into their upcoming full-length album Les Agnst ov Thanatou, due out June 21, 2026. The track arrives alongside an official lyric video and marks the beginning of what promises to be the band’s most ambitious and emotionally charged release to date.
Serving as a central thematic pillar of the album, “The Last Rites” explores the moment when struggle gives way to ritual, capturing humanity’s need for closure in the face of death.
Lyrically, the song reflects on fear, release, and remembrance, presenting death not as chaos but as a passage shaped by ceremony and reflection. Within the broader narrative of Les Agnst ov Thanatou, “The Last Rites” functions as a transition point, guiding listeners deeper into the album’s psychological and emotional descent.

Les Agnst ov Thanatou represents a major evolution for BLOOD OF ANGELS. Written during a period marked by personal loss and global uncertainty, the concept album traces humanity’s response to death through resistance, ritual, memory, and acceptance. The record was produced at Underground Studios in Tampa by Bob Noxious, Preston DiCarlo, and the band themselves, with mixing handled by DiCarlo and mastering completed at Soundlab in New York City.
Since forming in 2017, BLOOD OF ANGELS have steadily built an international reputation for their disciplined songwriting and uncompromising artistic vision. The band are recipients of the 2023 Hollywood Independent Music Award for Best Rock/Metal Song and multiple Akademia Music Awards, and recently completed a sold-out European headlining tour in 2025.
With “The Last Rites”, BLOOD OF ANGELS invite listeners into the dark ceremonial heart of Les Agnst ov Thanatou, a record poised to confront grief, mortality, and the rituals that bind them through sound, story, and emotion.
