Swiss heavy metal powerhouse Burning Witches have unveiled their sixth studio album, Inquisition, set for release on August 22, 2025, via Napalm Records. Following 2023’s The Dark Tower, the album dives into medieval persecution, religious oppression, and resistance, delivering 12 tracks of thunderous power/heavy metal. The title track, Inquisition, premiered with a music video on June 11, 2025, showcasing high-energy riffs, pounding drums, and Laura Guldemond’s gripping vocals. The band celebrates their 10th anniversary with this release, blending classic influences like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Slayer with a darker, anthemic edge.

Inquisition marks Burning Witches’ most ferocious album, produced by Damir Eskic (Destruction) and V.O. Pulver (Little Creek Studio), with songwriting led by guitarist Romana Kalkuhl. The album cover, painted by Gyula Havancsák, and the Inquisition video, directed by Dream Film Factory, enhance its medieval aesthetic. Tracks range from the Latin-charged opener Sanguini Hominum to the thrash-driven Soul Eater, the melodic ballad Release Me, and the epic closer Malus Maga. The band describes Inquisition as a tribute to heavy metal’s roots, infused with occult depth and raw power.
