San Diego deathgrind band Cattle Decapitation has released From This Flesh: A Cattle Decapitation Story, a two-hour documentary marking the two-year anniversary of their tenth album, Terrasite, which dropped today on May 12, 2023. The film, shot, directed, and edited by Australian videographer Nicholas VanVidler (NJV Media, Body Prison), premiered today on YouTube. It chronicles the making of Terrasite, capturing the recording process with producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio, while also delving into the band’s history since their 1996 inception. Vocalist Travis Ryan describes it as “insightful, intense, funny, sad, unfiltered, immersive,” offering fans a raw look at their creative process and personal dynamics.
Formed in 1996, Cattle Decapitation—Travis Ryan (vocals), Josh Elmore (guitar), Belisario Dimuzio (guitar), and David McGraw (drums)—is known for their provocative themes, tackling animal exploitation, environmental abuse, and human genocide, often placing humans in the scenarios animals endure. Terrasite, featuring artwork by Wes Benscoter and synths by Dis Pater of Midnight Odyssey, earned critical acclaim, landing #2 on Billboard’s Current Hard Music Albums chart and appearing on year-end lists globally.

The band kicks off a three-week European tour next month, starting at Sweden Rock in Sölvesborg on June 4, with festival stops like Download (June 15) and Hellfest (June 22), alongside headlining shows with acts like Skeletal Remains and Incantation.
