Death metal solo project CEMETERY REIGN, led by Street Tombs and Superstition member David McMaster, has announced the release of its debut full-length album Confined To Time, arriving February 26 via Carbonized Records. Alongside the announcement, the project has unveiled the first single, “Pendulum Clock”, now streaming online.
Formed during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Northern New Mexico, CEMETERY REIGN emerged from a period marked by social collapse, political instability, and personal deterioration. Writing and recording between 2020 and 2023, McMaster forged eight tracks of old school death metal steeped in themes of war, apocalypse, depression, and cosmic annihilation.
“The eight tracks on Confined To Time were all written and recorded from 2020 to 2023,” McMaster explains. “The process was simple. I recorded riff ideas on my phone and then tracked drums on the spot, often changing them to fit the structure of the song. A live band briefly came together for two shows in Albuquerque in 2022, and the plan is to return to the stage in 2026 after the album is released.”
The lead single “Pendulum Clock” confronts extinction on every scale. “The song is about the inevitable ending of all things through catastrophic means such as environmental destruction, cosmic collapse, and self inflicted human disaster,” McMaster says.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Augustine Ortiz at The Decibel Foundry and The Kitchen Sink in Santa Fe, Confined To Time delivers a raw and reverberating sound rooted in classic death metal tradition. Fans of Carcass, Autopsy, Grave, Asphyx, and Bolt Thrower will find plenty to embrace in its crushing riffs and relentless atmosphere.
Confined To Time will be released on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats.
