From the shadowed depths of Cleveland, Ohio emerges death/doom trio PROCESSION, who will release their debut EP, The Witch King, on June 19 via Iron Fortress Records.
Blending suffocating death/doom with cavernous atmosphere and eerie dark ambient textures, The Witch King marks the band’s first fully realized offering, delivering four tracks of decaying heaviness steeped in visions of ancient ruin, sealed catacombs, and forgotten evil buried beneath crumbling kingdoms.
The lead single, “Mechanically Separated (from the Flesh),” arrives today, offering a first glimpse into the band’s oppressive sonic world. Drawing influence from legendary acts such as Autopsy, Mystic Charm, Anatomia, and Mythic, Procession crafts a slow-burning descent through fog-covered wastelands and death-haunted landscapes where doom crawls relentlessly forward.
Formed in 2023, Procession consists of Dominic Dulin (guitars, vocals, synth), Ray Conde (drums), and Grant Mastropieri (bass). Following the release of their Chthonic Signals demo cassette through Iron Fortress Records, the band sharpened their approach into a more immersive and focused death/doom assault now fully realized on The Witch King.
In addition to its four new tracks, the EP also includes three bonus songs originally featured on the 2023 Chthonic Signals demo.
The Witch King was recorded and mixed by Grant Mastropieri and mastered by Dominic Dulin. The release features artwork by Fernando JFL (@giotefeli), logo design by Dominic Dulin, and photography by Brandon Emmert.
