COLD SLITHER have released their new single, “Cobra Island,” a heavy metal anthem inspired by one of the most infamous storylines in the G.I. Joe comic book universe. The track is now available for streaming alongside an accompanying music video.
Drawing inspiration from the legendary Cobra Civil War, “Cobra Island” chronicles the violent power struggle between Cobra Commander, Serpentor, and their rival factions as the conflict engulfs Cobra, G.I. Joe, and the Iron Grenadiers. The story is reimagined through the perspective of the notorious Dreadnoks.
Commenting on the song, frontman Zartan said:
“Well, once again The Commander has rounded up enough money to warrant my Dreadnoks and I to crawl out of our swamp and record some new music. At the same time paying us to secure his stronghold, the Terrordrome… So I wrote a song about just that. Enjoy ‘Cobra Island’ but be warned… You DO NOT want to find yourself washing up on these shores! Cobraaaaa!!!”
The music video, created by Ross Sewage, accompanies a track packed with aggressive riffs, soaring vocals, and a relentless groove inspired by classic ’80s heavy metal, early thrash, and power metal. The band describes the single as a preview of what fans can expect from a future full-length release.
COLD SLITHER is fronted by the enigmatic Zartan, joined by fellow Dreadnoks Torch, Ripper, and Buzzer. Blending old-school heavy metal with anarchic energy, the band channels the mythology of the iconic villains into a modern metal project built on crushing riffs, commanding vocals, and apocalyptic atmosphere.
