Denver-based death-doom quartet Cronos Compulsion, formed in 2021, has released their debut full-length album Lawgiver on July 11, 2025, via Avantgarde Music’s death metal division Unorthodox Emanations. The band, featuring Wil Wilson (vocals, guitar, noise), Raye Mokarry (guitar), Addison Herron-Wheeler (bass, backing vocals), and Zach Johnson (drums), delivers a genre-defying onslaught of death-doom, chaotic metal, and noise-laced breakdowns. Lawgiver, a scathing critique of late-stage capitalism and humanity’s basest instincts, is available on CD, LP, and digital formats, with streaming and purchases on Bandcamp.

Vocalist/guitarist Wil Wilson notes, “We’ve been playing these songs live for quite some time now so we’ve managed to distill this down into what we think is a solid first full-length.”

The nine-track album includes:

1. Obligate Condition
2. Maladapt
3. Gyre of Decaying Filth
4. Ancestral Remains
5. Sun Devouring Wound
6. Neolithic Meditations
7. Mortal Dissolution
8. Lawgiver
9. Incursion of Deific Chaos

Recorded and mixed by Austin Minney at All Aces Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, Lawgiver features artwork by Liam Day and photos by Jeff Tidwell. Building on their 2021 Cursed and Decaying and 2023 Malicious Regression EPs, the album’s crushing riffs, frenzied rhythms, and demonic gutturals are praised by New Noise Magazine for their “cataclysmic” impact and subtle layering.
