Following the success of lead single “Dig Your Own Grave,” which amassed more than 400,000 streams across platforms and became a fixture on SiriusXM Liquid Metal, “Dead in the Water” finds DevilDriver leaning heavily into the aggressive blend of groove metal, melodic death metal, and blackened influences that has defined the band throughout its career.
Built around blast beats, guitar harmonies, and relentless riffs, the track showcases the chemistry between guitarists Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold while highlighting the unmistakable vocal attack of frontman Dez Fafara.
Speaking about the song, Fafara described it as one of the most positive lyrical statements he has ever written, inspired by emerging from a dark period and finding renewed purpose. Anchored by the message “stay the course,” the track encourages perseverance and resilience through life’s most difficult moments.
