Epic heavy metallers Eternal Champion have released their brand-new EP, Friend of War, now available on all streaming platforms. The band will also have CD copies available at upcoming festival appearances, including Up The Hammers Festival in Athens and Hell’s Heroes Festival next weekend.
Friend of War draws direct inspiration from the work of legendary fantasy author Karl Edward Wagner, specifically his novel Dark Crusade.
The EP channels Wagner’s dark heroic themes into Eternal Champion’s signature sound, soaring epic metal riffs, heroic atmosphere, and battle-ready songwriting.
According to the band, the release represents a deeply personal effort:
“We worked hard and poured ourselves into it.”

The EP’s striking cover art was created as a traditional oil painting by artist Batdog, while the layout was handled by Greylords Hoard, continuing the band’s strong connection to classic fantasy aesthetics and traditional metal visuals.
Physical editions and additional details will be released soon through No Remorse Records.
Fans can expect:
- CD copies available at upcoming shows
- Vinyl and additional physical formats announced soon
The EP also serves as a preview of bigger things ahead, with the band confirming that their third full-length album is expected later this year.
With Friend of War, Eternal Champion continue to cement their reputation as one of the leading forces in modern epic heavy metal, combining sword-and-sorcery storytelling with powerful, traditional metal songwriting.
