Melodic death metal band FIMBUL WINTER, featuring three former members of AMON AMARTH, have unveiled their new single, “When The Sun Comes Out At Night”, featuring guest vocals from Johan Lindstrand of THE CROWN. The track follows the band’s previous single “Crowned In Ash” and their 2025 debut EP, What Once Was.
Driven by relentless riffs, rapid-fire drumming, and soaring melodic guitar work, “When The Sun Comes Out At Night” delivers an intense blend of aggression and atmosphere. Vocalist Clint Williams is joined by Johan Lindstrand, whose guest performance adds another layer of ferocity to the song’s powerful climax.
Lyrically, the track explores the unsettling consequences of confronting reality with complete clarity. As long-held beliefs crumble, the song examines the emotional instability and disorientation that accompany an awakening to difficult truths.
Formed in 2023, FIMBUL WINTER brings together founding AMON AMARTH members Niko Kaukinen and Anders Biazzi alongside Fredrik Andersson and vocalist Clint Williams. Based between Stockholm, Sweden, and Melbourne, Australia, the band was born from a reunion performance of AMON AMARTH’s 1994 demo The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter. Inspired by reconnecting, the musicians set out to create new material rooted in classic Swedish melodic death metal while embracing a modern production approach.
The new single was recorded at Studio Fluff Västerås with engineer Andreas Moren handling drums and guitars, while vocals were tracked at Witching Hour Audio under engineer Shaun Farrugia. Bass was performed by Risa Andersson, with mixing and mastering completed by Marko Tervonen at Studio-MT. The single’s artwork was created by Katarzyna Urbanek.
With “Crowned In Ash” and “When The Sun Comes Out At Night”, FIMBUL WINTER continue to expand on the foundation established by What Once Was, combining the experience of Swedish death metal veterans with a fresh creative direction.
