Portuguese masked band GAEREA have unveiled their powerful new single and official video “Phoenix”, taken from their forthcoming album Loss, due out March 20 via Century Media Records.
Marking another step in GAEREA’s ongoing evolution, “Phoenix” channels resilience forged through pain. The band describe the track as “a song about surviving betrayal and suffering, then using that pain as fuel to become stronger instead of letting it corrode you.” Bruised but unbroken, the song embodies rebirth, rising again, breaking chains, and reclaiming control.
Loss is GAEREA’s first full-length release with Century Media and finds the band sharpening their post-black metal foundations while embracing broader emotional and melodic range. Known for their suffocating intensity and ritualistic presence, GAEREA expand their sonic palette here with haunting melodies, unexpected vocal approaches, and choruses that cut as deeply as their blast-driven extremes. Despite these new contours, Loss remains unmistakably GAEREA, raw, cathartic, and emotionally uncompromising.
Recorded in early 2025 in Portugal with long-time collaborator Miguel Teroso at Demigod Recordings, Loss is the sound of a band laying itself bare. With the same lineup and creative nucleus intact from Coma, GAEREA push further into the frayed edges of the human condition, distilling nearly a decade of artistic and personal struggle into their most focused and expansive statement to date.

Visually and philosophically, GAEREA continue to reject individual identity in favor of collective experience. Their masked anonymity and ritual-driven live performances have earned comparisons to acts like Neurosis and Amenra, with the band’s audience, “The Vortex Society” , forming a shared emotional space rooted in music, catharsis, and introspection.
Loss arrives March 20 on multiple physical and digital formats, including vinyl variants and Dolby Atmos audio. To mark the release, GAEREA will perform the album in full at two exclusive shows in Brussels and Amsterdam, followed by major festival appearances throughout summer 2026, including Hellfest, Graspop, Tons of Rock, and Resurrection Fest.
With “Phoenix”, GAEREA offer a striking glimpse into Loss: an album of survival, transformation, and defiant rebirth from one of modern extreme metal’s most compelling and singular voices.
