GHOST have dropped the official video for “Umbra”, and it’s every bit as dark, seductive, and cinematic as fans would expect.
Released just in time for Friday the 13th, the new visual arrives like a twisted Valentine, a steamy, shadow-drenched tale of a star-crossed couple spiraling toward inevitable ruin, all under the watchful narration of Papa V Perpetua. Directed by Amir Chamdin, the clip leans hard into gothic romance and fatalistic atmosphere, perfectly matching the song’s ominous refrain:
“In the shadows, pale and cold / In the shadows, lay my soul / In the shadows, death becomes your lover.”
“Umbra” comes from Skeletá, GHOST’s sixth full-length and first release to hit #1 on the Billboard 200. The album has already fueled a massive global response, with packed arenas and hundreds of thousands of tickets sold on the ongoing Skeletour Tour.
The track is the latest single from Skeletá, following:
- “Satanized” dubbed a “catchy goth-rock epic” by VICE
- “Lachryma” performed during the band’s debut appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
- “Peacefield” the monolithic anthem opening both the album and GHOST’s 2025 live rituals
The release of “Umbra” also caps off a banner stretch for GHOST, which kicked off with a GRAMMY nomination and continues with a sold-out North American tour run closing at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles later this month.
With Skeletá dominating charts and “Umbra” adding another dramatic chapter to the era, GHOST show no signs of slowing down only descending deeper into the shadows.
