GREEN LUNG Unleash New Single ‘Necropolitan Line’; New Album Necropolitan Arrives September 11

UK occult rock band Green Lung have unveiled their new single, “Necropolitan Line”, the second track released from their upcoming fourth studio album, Necropolitan, due out September 11, 2026. The band has also premiered an accompanying video directed by Tracy Mathewson with animation by Joseph Brett.

Inspired by London’s historic Necropolis Railway, a Victorian-era train line that transported the deceased and mourners across the city, “Necropolitan Line” combines driving heavy metal energy with classic hard rock influences. According to the band, the song draws inspiration from the 1972 horror film Death Line and features a neoclassical organ and guitar duel influenced by Deep Purple legends Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord.

The video pays homage to the early 1970s German television music program Beat Club, featuring a fictional version called “Crypt Club” and an introduction from the band’s longtime roadie Metal Joe.

Necropolitan was recorded at Rockfield Studios with producer Tom Dalgety, known for his work with Ghost and Opeth. The album was tracked largely live in an effort to capture the band’s powerful stage sound while maintaining the heaviness and atmosphere that have become their trademark.

The new record follows 2023’s This Heathen Land, which reached No. 1 on the UK Official Rock and Metal Albums Chart.
