Toronto-based progressive death metal band GUTVOID have announced their second full-length album, Liminal Shrines, set for release March 20th via Profound Lore Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s first single, “Spell Reliquary”, now streaming on all major platforms.
Blending modern death and doom with progressive metal complexity, Liminal Shrines marks a bold evolution for GUTVOID. The album serves as the first chapter in a two-part conceptual work, expanding the band’s cosmic-horror atmosphere through six immersive and intricately composed tracks. The record pushes further into melody and progressive structure while retaining the crushing weight and cavernous aggression that defined their earlier releases.
“‘Spell Reliquary’ represents where our sound has evolved,” explains guitarist/vocalist Brendan Dean. “It’s progressive in structure, melody-driven, but still rooted in the heavy death/doom approach of our past work. Lyrically, it explores transformation and shifting states, themes that run throughout the album.”
Recorded across multiple studios in Ontario and mixed and mastered by Greg Dawson, Liminal Shrines features striking cover artwork by Kjell Åge Meland. Preorders for LP, CD, and digital formats are now available through Profound Lore Records.
GUTVOID will also begin work on the sister album to Liminal Shrines later this year.

Liminal Shrines will be released on LP, CD, and digitally on March 20th. Preorders and presaves can be placed via Profound Lore
