Shock rock legends GWAR have premiered a new HD version of their music video for “School’s Out,” the band’s cover of the Alice Cooper classic, as they prepare to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyond Hell.
A fully remastered deluxe edition of Beyond Hell arrives this Friday, September 25, 2026 through the band’s own Pit Records. The release also marks the first time the album has been available on vinyl.
The anniversary edition was remastered by Paul Logus, whose credits include Anthrax and Killswitch Engage, and features a previously unreleased outro recorded during the original Beyond Hell sessions but ultimately left off the 2006 release.
The newly upgraded HD video for the remastered “School’s Out” is available now.
Twenty years of Beyond Hell
Originally released in 2006, Beyond Hell was produced by Devin Townsend and became one of the more ambitious and theatrical entries in GWAR’s extensive catalog.
The concept follows GWAR’s descent into Hell in an attempt to rescue their long-lost comrade Flattus Maximus, with the record producing fan favorites including “Back in Crack,” “Womb With a View,” “Tormentor” and “The Ultimate Bohab.”
Townsend recalls being a longtime fan of the band before eventually getting the opportunity to work with them:
“I had been a GWAR fan since I was a kid. I loved the freedom, the metal, the spectacle, and the passion that went into it all.”
After meeting late GWAR frontman Dave Brockie while the two were touring, Townsend pushed for an opportunity to collaborate with the band.
“I met Brockie on a tour we did together and, after cornering him in an elevator basically telling him I’d work for free, I found myself co-producing Beyond Hell.”
Townsend says Dave Brockie and Corey Smoot traveled to Vancouver for the sessions, with recording taking place at Profile Studios as well as GWAR’s Slave Pit in Richmond, Virginia. The entire process lasted approximately three months.
Reflecting on the band two decades later, Townsend adds:
“GWAR were, and are, an amazing combination of artistic freedom, absurdity, and hard work bundled up with metal and performance. Loved them then, love them now.”

The anniversary edition’s first-ever vinyl pressing comes on 180-gram vinyl housed inside a tri-fold jacket designed to unfold into an inverted cross. The deluxe CD edition includes a fold-out poster.
Several vinyl editions were produced, including a standard gold pressing limited to 2,000 copies, a “Blood Moon” edition limited to 300 copies through GWAR’s store and a 200-copy “Blood Smear” variant through Metal Injection. All three editions have sold out, though copies of the album will be available through select retailers beginning September 25. See gwar.net
GWAR launch the “Gor Gor Must Die!” Tour this fall
GWAR will follow the anniversary release with an extensive North American run on the “Gor Gor Must Die!” Tour, kicking off October 27.
The tour features MIDNIGHT as direct support with MAC SABBATH opening each night, while X-COPS will appear on select dates. The trek runs through December and includes stops across the United States and Canada.
Before the tour officially begins, GWAR will also appear aboard The Headbangers Boat in Miami from October 30 through November 3.
