Icelandic folk metal band HRAFNABLÓT have released “Dísablót,” the second single and music video from their forthcoming debut album, Guðlaugar Saga, which is scheduled for release in fall 2026.
Following the band’s debut single, “Svartigaldur,” the new track advances the album’s overarching narrative while showcasing HRAFNABLÓT’s blend of folk melodies, heavy metal, and Icelandic mythology.
According to the band, “Dísablót” was the first song they wrote together and has been refined over an extended period. Musically, it features driving riffs, twin-guitar harmonies, fast lead work, and a combination of clean and harsh vocal performances that have become central to the group’s sound.
Lyrically, the song introduces the beginning of Guðlaugar Saga. The story follows Guðlaug, a modern-day woman who, after following a mysterious fairy from a Reykjavík bar, awakens during Iceland’s settlement era. Armed only with her clothing and a taser, she must determine whether she has been transported through magic or something far more mysterious.
The single artwork was illustrated by Ana Nikitina, with layout by guitarist Mara Birna Jóhannsdóttir. It depicts Guðlaug surrounded by flames, ravens, and Icelandic magical runes known as Draumstafir.
Designed as a full concept album, Guðlaugar Saga combines Icelandic folklore, historical sagas, magic, and folk metal into a continuous narrative. Across seven full-length songs and two spoken-word pieces, the album follows Guðlaug’s journey through battles, celebrations, kidnapping, prophecy, and ultimately a choice between returning to the present or altering history.
Musically, the record blends Icelandic folk music with Nordic folk metal, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, gothic influences, and elements of extreme metal, creating a dynamic contrast between light and darkness, melody and aggression.

Formed in Reykjavík in 2024, HRAFNABLÓT has quickly established itself on Iceland’s live circuit with performances at venues including Íslenski rokkbarinn, Lemmy, BIRD, and the Icelandic Sorcery Festival. The band’s performances combine theatrical visuals, storytelling, and ritual-inspired stage presentation.
