American black metal band HULDER will release its new full-length album Verbolgen on August 7, 2026, through a joint release between 20 Buck Spin for North America and Season of Mist for territories outside North America.
Spanning nine tracks and clocking in at just over forty-eight minutes, Verbolgen is described as the project’s most fully realized work to date. The album explores themes of ancestral memory, natural sovereignty, and ancient ritual through lyrics written in English, Flemish, and Proto-Germanic.
Musically rooted in Scandinavian black metal traditions, the album expands into more atmospheric and ceremonial territory, balancing aggressive riff-driven passages with slower, meditative compositions. Acoustic instrumentation and hurdy gurdy performances are woven throughout the record, reinforcing its connection to pre-Christian mythological and folkloric traditions from the Germanic lowlands and Celtic regions of northwestern Europe.
The release also marks a major evolution for the project itself. Long recognized as the solo vision of HULDER, Verbolgen officially welcomes Necreon as a full creative partner after years of contributing as a session musician.
Additional contributors on the album include:
- Keld (Majesties, Obsequiae, Celestiial) — hurdy gurdy, electric guitars, keys
- Vrolok (Aeternus, Gorgoroth) — drums
- Vapula — touring drummer contributions
- Ianuaria — session flute
