Death metallers Invocation Ritual have released “Decaying Personality”, the first single from their forthcoming debut album, Altered Reality, due out August 14 via Iron Fortress Records on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.
Featuring current and former members of Oxygen Destroyer, Kontusion, and Reburied, Invocation Ritual make an aggressive first statement with a record that explores the darker corners of the human psyche.
Lead single “Decaying Personality” focuses on the gradual transformation of a once-familiar individual into someone increasingly hostile, distant, and ultimately unrecognizable. The track serves as a thematic introduction to the album’s broader examination of psychological deterioration and distorted perception.
Across ten tracks, Altered Reality explores a world shaped by addiction, war, mental illness, and personal turmoil. The album presents a bleak vision where the boundaries between reality and delusion become increasingly blurred, leading to a complete unraveling of identity and awareness.
Musically, the band draw heavily from classic death metal traditions while incorporating razor-sharp riffing, relentless percussion, and savage vocal performances. The result is a crushing soundtrack to themes of mental collapse, existential dread, and the erosion of reality itself.
The album was engineered and recorded by bassist Paul Wright, vocalist Victor Teller, and guitarist/drummer Billy Anderson. Mixing duties were handled by Anderson, while mastering was completed by Greg Wilkinson, widely known in underground extreme metal circles as “Earhammer.”
Visual elements for the release include cover artwork by Dan Bones and Anne Margrete Sjøflot, logo design from renowned metal artist Christophe Szpajdel, and photography by Taylor Franklin.
