Nashville-based Japanese horror-inspired USBM duo SAIDAN have announced their fourth full-length album, FANGDRILLER: Scars Beneath Memory’s Wrist, set for release on June 19 via Avantgarde Music.

To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s first single, “Kara no Bara” (“Empty Rose”), alongside an official music video.

The album serves as a prequel to 2023’s Visual Kill, continuing SAIDAN’s ongoing narrative universe. FANGDRILLER follows The Student, Junko, as she attempts to mend a fractured heart—only to be consumed by isolation and drawn into the orbit of a mysterious cult known as Ethereal Blood.

Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Splatterpvnk comments:

“‘Kara no Bara’ highlights Junko’s isolation before her encounter with Ethereal Blood, while also acting as a metaphor for my own struggles with loneliness and depression.”

Musically, FANGDRILLER blends the lo-fi aesthetic of classic Visual Kei with gothic black metal, injecting modern breakcore elements into its foundation. The result is a chaotic yet nostalgic sound—wrapped in a uniquely unsettling atmosphere.

Formed in 2020, SAIDAN quickly gained traction within the underground black metal scene through a series of demos and splits. In just five years, the duo—Splatterpvnk and drummer Hundosai—have released three critically acclaimed full-lengths: Jigoku: Spiraling Chasms of the Blackest Hell (2021), Onryō II: Her Spirit Eternal (2022), and Visual Kill: The Blossoming of Psychotic Depravity (2024).
