Danish extreme metal outfit KONVENT have announced their third studio album, Firesky, set for release on November 6, 2026 via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s opening track and first single, “Exorcise,” accompanied by an official music video.

Following their established foundation in death-doom, KONVENT push into new territory on Firesky, incorporating a stronger black metal influence while expanding the scale of their songwriting. The album consists of only five tracks, with several approaching or exceeding the 10-minute mark as the quartet embraces longer, more dynamic compositions.

“Exorcise” provides the first look at that evolution. Beginning as a slow and crushing doom track, the song builds gradually before erupting during its final section, introducing harsher black metal elements and vocalist Rikke Emilie List utilizing screams alongside the guttural vocals associated with the band’s earlier work.

KONVENT comment on the single:

“‘Exorcise’ is the sound of the suffocation we feel after watching lawmakers around the world pass increasingly sexist and transphobic legislation. Legislation that will one day, like a snake, eat its own tail.”

KONVENT Expand Their Sound on Firesky

Arriving four years after the band’s previous album, Firesky represents KONVENT’s most experimental material to date. The quartet draws more heavily from black metal while retaining the massive doom and death metal foundation that has defined their sound.

The band explains:

“After four years, we are finally ready to release our third album, Firesky, as our most ambitious album yet. On this album we have experimented more with black metal, as it is a genre we are all very inspired by.”

The lyrical direction of the record also reflects the band’s response to current political and social developments.

“Lyrically it has been impossible for us to ignore the political state of the world, and we have found it imperative to comment on the active decisions to withdraw basic human rights for women and LGBTQ people. Firesky is a screaming desire to burn everything down and to create a more solidary and empathic world.”

Musically, Firesky allows its compositions significantly more room to develop than previous KONVENT releases. “Scorning” builds from restrained drums and guitars into increasingly heavy territory, while “In the Unknown,” running approximately 12 minutes, takes a more progressive approach to the band’s extreme metal framework.

The title track introduces clean passages amid the album’s dense heaviness and features Mai Soon Young Øvlisen. From there, the record transitions into “Postludium,” an instrumental piece that closes the five-track journey.
