Danish death doom band KONVENT have released “Firesky,” the title track and second single from their upcoming third album, Firesky, due November 6, 2026, via Napalm Records.

The new track pushes KONVENT beyond the crushing death doom of their previous releases, incorporating black metal influences and clean passages alongside the band’s trademark heaviness. “Firesky” also features a guest appearance from Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah.

KONVENT comment:

“‘Firesky’ is a celebration of female and queer communities lifting each other up in a world of adversity and burning down every deep-rooted threat to our existence. Joining us on ‘Firesky’ is Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah.”

The accompanying official music video is available now.

Following four years since their previous album, KONVENT describe Firesky as their most ambitious record to date. The five-track release finds the Copenhagen quartet expanding their sound through longer compositions, increased experimentation and a stronger black metal influence.

“After four years, we are finally ready to release our third album, Firesky, as our most ambitious album yet,” the band explains. “On this album we have experimented more with black metal, as it is a genre we are all very inspired by.”

The band also addresses the political themes behind the record, with its lyrics responding to issues affecting women and LGBTQ communities. KONVENT describe the album as “a screaming desire to burn everything down and to create a more solidary and empathic world.”

Most of Firesky‘s compositions stretch toward the 10-minute mark, giving the band room to develop its darker atmospheres and progressive elements. “Exorcise” opens the record with slow, crushing doom before accelerating during its final section, while “Scorning” builds gradually around restrained guitars and drums. “In the Unknown,” the album’s longest track at roughly 12 minutes, pushes further into progressive territory before leading into the title track and instrumental closer “Postludium.”
