New Jersey melodic death and thrash metal band LEGIONARY have announced the release of their new full-length album Never-Ending Quest for Purpose, arriving March 6. To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled a lyric video for the first single, “If the Judges Became the Judged”, now streaming online.
The five-track release continues the path set by 2024’s Prison Realm EP, pushing the band’s sound into heavier, darker, and more epic territory. Founder and multi-instrumentalist Frank D’Erasmo describes the album as a natural evolution of that style, but taken to a more massive extreme.
“This new album is a continuation of the path we took on our last EP, Prison Realm”, says D’Erasmo. “For fans of that EP, this new album is in that style again, but on steroids. Things sound heavier, more epic, and more massive on this album. With Mike Low handling the mix, things have never sounded this big on a LEGIONARY release.”
The album features returning collaborators Chris Clancy on vocals and Tony Barhoum on lead guitar, with D’Erasmo once again handling rhythm guitars, drums, and bass. Guest violinist Ben Karas appears on the closing track “Story Without Closure,” adding a melodic and cinematic edge to the record’s finale.
Musically, Never-Ending Quest for Purpose blends aggressive thrash riffing with melodic death metal intensity, drawing influence from bands like Kreator, Iced Earth, Into Eternity, and Control Denied. Each track explores themes of guilt, judgment, perception, and unresolved struggle, forming a cohesive and emotionally charged statement.
