Brazilian progressive metal band MAESTRICK have returned with “Zion,” a new single and official video available now via Frontiers Music Srl.
The track marks the beginning of a new era for the band, introducing a refreshed lineup while offering the first glimpse at the direction MAESTRICK will explore on their next studio album, expected in 2027.
“‘Zion’ marks the beginning of a new chapter for MAESTRICK. We have a new lineup, renewed energy, and a real sense of excitement about what lies ahead,” the band comments. “We’re grateful for everything we’ve created so far, but this song takes us into new territory — and we can’t wait to explore it.”
Musically, “Zion” brings MAESTRICK’s symphonic elements to the forefront while incorporating a more contemporary approach to the band’s progressive metal foundation.
“‘Zion’ brings MAESTRICK’s symphonic side to the forefront, drawing on the cinematic scale of composers like Hans Zimmer and Gustav Holst,” the band explains. “At the same time, we’re exploring modern sounds in both the instrumentation and vocals, with electronic and atmospheric elements inspired by artists such as MUSE, VOLA, SPIRITBOX, and BAD OMENS.”
Formed in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, in 2006, MAESTRICK have built their sound around progressive rock and heavy metal while incorporating Brazilian regional music, classical influences, and elements of world music.
The band’s work also draws inspiration from cinema, visual arts, and literature, with filmmakers including Tim Burton, George Méliès, Guillermo del Toro, and Christopher Nolan among the influences surrounding their creative identity. Musically, their expansive approach bridges progressive staples such as DREAM THEATER, HAKEN, YES, and GENTLE GIANT with QUEEN and more contemporary rock and metal sounds.
MAESTRICK released Espresso Della Vita: Solare in 2018, which was followed by a European tour encompassing Switzerland, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Its companion album, Espresso Della Vita: Lunare, arrived in 2025 and continued the band’s exploration of progressive metal.
Now, “Zion” begins the next phase of MAESTRICK’s career, with a new studio album planned for 2027.
