Melbourne’s blackened nu-metal band Mélancolia has revealed their sophomore album, random.access.misery, set for release on August 29, 2025, via Greyscale Records (AUS/NZ) and Nuclear Blast (ROW). The 10-track album, produced, mixed, and mastered by Declan White with artwork by Hollowed Graphix, features songs like “icanseethroughtheholesinmyhands,” “Lithia” (feat. Hunter Young), and “SPIT!” (feat. Christopher Mackertich). Pre-orders are live, offering limited colored vinyl and CD options at nuclearblast.com/collections/melancolia.

Alongside the announcement, Mélancolia dropped their new single “ALL_IS_RUST” on May 22, 2025, with a music video showcasing the band in eerie white attire. The track blends metalcore, deathcore, industrial noise, and blast beats, evolving their sound from 2023’s HissThroughRottenTeeth into what they call “blackened nu-metal.” Vocalist Alex Hill notes, “While we’ve moved away from pure deathcore, we feel this song captures the essence of MÉLANCOLIA more than ever,” adding that its live debut in Europe earlier this year confirmed its status as a crowd favorite. The band—Hill (vocals), Joshua Taafe (guitars), Billy Morris (guitars), Mason Page (drums), and new bassist Toby Thomas—will debut the material live in Australia, supporting Thy Art Is Murder in June and July.
