Meshuggah Announce Remastered Anniversary Editions of Destroy Erase Improve and Catch Thirtythree

Swedish extreme metal innovators Meshuggah have announced newly remastered anniversary editions of two landmark releases in their catalog: Destroy Erase Improve and Catch Thirtythree.

The forthcoming Destroy Erase Improve: 30th Anniversary Edition and Catch Thirtythree: 20th Anniversary Edition arrive July 24, 2026 via  Reigning Phoenix Music on vinyl, CD digipack, and digital formats, featuring newly remastered audio alongside the albums’ original artwork.

These wider anniversary editions follow the limited alternate-artwork Record Store Day releases issued earlier this year, restoring the classic visual identities while retaining the updated remastered sound created for the campaign.

To celebrate the announcement, the band has released newly remastered versions of two essential tracks from each era:

Fans can also pre-order both anniversary editions now:

Revisiting Two Cornerstones of Extreme Metal

Originally released in 1995, Destroy Erase Improve marked a pivotal evolution not only for Meshuggah, but for heavy music as a whole. The album fused technical thrash, mechanical rhythmic precision, dissonant riff construction, and jazz-fusion sensibilities into a sound that would become foundational to progressive metal, math metal, and the later djent movement.

The newly remastered “Future Breed Machine” revisits one of the band’s defining compositions — a track whose syncopated grooves and relentless precision helped establish Meshuggah’s unmistakable sonic identity.
