Swedish melodic metallers METALITE have unveiled full details of their upcoming studio album, Discovery, set for release on September 25, 2026 via Perception – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music. Alongside the announcement, the band has released a brand-new single, “In Case Of Emergency,” offering another glimpse into the futuristic world that awaits listeners on the new record.
Following the previously released singles “Our Time Has Come” and “Starchild,” the latest track showcases everything fans have come to expect from METALITE: soaring melodies, crushing riffs, cinematic synth textures, and the powerful vocals of Erica Ohlsson. Accompanied by a new visualizer video, “In Case Of Emergency” blends modern melodic metal with the band’s signature sci-fi atmosphere.
Guitarist, producer, songwriter, and founder Edwin Premberg commented on the new single:
“In Case Of Emergency is a true banger driven by a heavy rhythm and crushing chugging guitars. But beneath the intensity, it carries a powerful message about always being there for someone, no matter the time or place. It’s a song that hits hard both musically and emotionally, raw, melodic, and made to be felt.”
Mixed and mastered by renowned Danish producer Jacob Hansen, known for his work with Volbeat, Evergrey, and Amaranthe, Discovery continues the ambitious narrative universe METALITE has developed throughout its career.
Set in the year 2058, three years after humanity abandoned a dying Earth in search of a new beginning, the album explores themes of technological advancement, survival, liberation, hope, and human evolution. Across twelve tracks, the band expands upon the futuristic storytelling first introduced on Heroes in Time (2017) and further developed through Biomechanicals (2019), A Virtual World (2021), and Expedition One (2024).
With Discovery, METALITE once again demonstrates why they have become one of modern melodic metal’s most distinctive and forward-thinking acts.
A Decade of Sci-Fi Metal Evolution
Formed in 2015 by guitarist Edwin Premberg and vocalist Emma Bensing, METALITE quickly established themselves with a fresh and modern approach to melodic metal. Their debut album, Heroes in Time, introduced audiences to the band’s combination of melodic hooks, metallic aggression, and futuristic themes.
The arrival of vocalist Erica Ohlsson on 2019’s Biomechanicals marked a significant turning point, helping the band further embrace electronic influences and expansive soundscapes. That evolution continued with A Virtual World and reached new heights with the concept album Expedition One, which chronicled humanity’s search for a new home among the stars.
In 2024, drummer Erik Junttila joined the lineup, bringing renewed energy to the band. After making his live debut in Linköping in early 2025, he helped power METALITE through tours alongside PAIN, Leaves’ Eyes, and The Night Flight Orchestra, as well as appearances at major festivals including Sweden Rock and Masters of Rock.
With millions of streams worldwide and an ever-growing international audience, METALITE continues to push the boundaries of melodic metal through its unique blend of futuristic storytelling, electronic innovation, and anthemic songwriting.
Discovery arrives September 25, 2026.
