Chicago thrash band Misfire has released their sophomore album Product Of The Environment today, May 2, 2025, via MNRK Heavy. Alongside the 12-track record, they’ve dropped a video for “Left For Dead,” featuring guest vocals from Exodus frontman Rob Dukes, who plays a menacing voice controlling vocalist Tim Jensen. Jensen describes the track as a confrontation of inner demons with intensity, while Dukes calls it a “killer song” and an honor to join. Stream the album and watch the video at misfire.ffm.to/productoftheenvironment.

The album, a step up from their 2021 debut Sympathy For The Ignorant, features guest guitar solos from John Douglass, Alex Parra (Paladin), and Death Angel’s Rob Cavestany. Produced in Atlanta, it blends classic thrash with modern edge, tackling themes like digital surveillance (“Artificially Intelligent,” “Privacy”) and betrayal (“Twist Of Fate”). Misfire—Tim Jensen (vocals), Kostadin Kostadinov (guitar), Dan Stapinski (bass), and James Nicademus (drums)—delivers a polished yet ferocious sound, with Jensen’s vocals echoing Dave Mustaine and Phil Anselmo, and Nicademus driving riffs that fuel their energy.
Currently on the “Swarm of Horror” tour with Exodus and Havok, Misfire plays tonight in Oklahoma City at Diamond Ballroom, with stops through May 13 in Asheville, NC, at Orange Peel. Reviews praise the album’s intensity, with Metal Hammer Germany noting its appeal to thrash purists and Dead Rhetoric highlighting its “sinister power” and modern angst.
