Puerto Rican progressive metal band Moths has released their second single, “Wrath,” from their upcoming album Septem, set to drop on August 1, 2025. The track, accompanied by a music video premiering on Metal Hammer Spain, blends black metal with their signature doom and progressive metal sound. “Wrath” channels raw rage against systemic hardship, with haunting soprano vocals from Mariel Viruet adding an eerie contrast to the aggressive instrumentation. Bassist Weslie Negrón notes the track’s quick creation during recording at Romaphonic Studios in Buenos Aires, highlighting its intense live energy.

Septem explores the Seven Deadly Sins across seven tracks, from “Envy” to “Gluttony” to “Wrath,” fusing death and black metal with progressive, psychedelic, doom, and stoner metal elements. Recorded in five days, mixed by Walter Chacón, and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, the album marks Viruet’s debut as vocalist. Negrón calls it their most ambitious work, emphasizing the band’s chemistry and rule-breaking approach. Pre-order here.

Moths—Mariel Viruet (vocals), Weslie Negrón (bass), Jonathan Miranda (lead guitar), Omar González (rhythm guitar), and Daniel Figueroa (drums)—will bring their immersive live experience to the U.S., with confirmed dates in:

  • 8/3 – Asheville, NC @Fleetwood’s
  • 8/6 – Philadelphia, PA @ Philamoca
  • 8/7 – Baltimore, MD @ The Depot
  • 8/9 – Somerville, MA @ Somergloom Festival

Since their 2018 debut, Moths has evolved, earning praise from fans for their genre-defying sound and sensory-driven performances.
