Myrkur Releases Epic New Video “Touch My Love And Die” Ahead of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix Performance

Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist Amalie Bruun, known under the moniker MYRKUR, has unveiled a powerful new cinematic video for her latest single “Touch My Love And Die”. The release arrives just days before her appearance at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, where she will perform the song this Saturday, February 14. The winner will go on to represent Denmark at Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna this May.

Filmed atop Northern Europe’s highest mountain pass, Sognefjellet, the video was directed by Line Klungseth Johansen and Øystein Moe, presenting the track less as a traditional music video and more as a ritualistic visual experience. Vast alpine landscapes, burning forests, and frozen lakes frame Bruun’s intimate performance, amplifying the song’s emotional gravity and mythic scale.

“Touch My Love And Die” is a sweeping ballad where MYRKUR’s many musical worlds converge—metal intensity, Nordic folk traditions, mythology, and cinematic scoring. Recorded in Dolby Atmos with real musicians, the track features cello, a girls’ choir, ancient folk instruments, and drums captured with more than 40 microphones, creating what Bruun describes as a deeply physical and human soundscape.

Lyrically, the song inhabits gothic and supernatural territory—a romance layered with danger, devotion, and transformation. Bruun intentionally leaves the meaning open, inviting listeners to find their own interpretation within its spell-like narrative.

The single was recorded in Winter 2025 with Christopher Juul (of Heilung), and marks a culmination of a year defined by major personal and artistic change. MYRKUR describes the piece as something she poured “heart, soul, blood, and tears” into—offered as an antidote to an increasingly artificial world, and a reminder of humanity’s roots and resilience.

Commissioned by Danish broadcaster DR, MYRKUR’s entry into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 doesn’t aim to blend in—it aims to open space. A song where darkness is not hidden, but allowed to illuminate.

Under the MYRKUR name, Amalie Bruun has built a singular artistic universe across albums like M, Mareridt, Folkesange, and Spine, seamlessly weaving Scandinavian folk, black metal, and cinematic atmospheres. Alongside her solo work, she has composed for film and theatre, including Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla and Ragnarok at the Royal Danish Theatre—cinematic storytelling that now finds new expression on one of Europe’s biggest musical stages.

With “Touch My Love And Die”, MYRKUR steps into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix carrying a piece that embraces vulnerability, power, and ritualistic beauty—setting the stage for what could be one of the competition’s most emotionally charged moments.
