Legendary post-metal pioneers Neurosis have made their long-awaited return with their first new album in over a decade, An Undying Love For A Burning World, available now on all streaming platforms via Neurot Recordings. The release marks a powerful new chapter for the band, one defined by transformation, resilience, and creative rebirth.

Adding to the significance of this new era, Aaron Turner (known for his work in Isis and Sumac) joins the lineup on guitar and vocals, bringing a raw, intuitive energy that seamlessly integrates into the band’s evolving sound.

A Decade in the Making

Described by the band as both a necessity and a cathartic release, An Undying Love For A Burning World emerges from years of personal and collective turmoil. NEUROSIS channel themes of existential anxiety, societal collapse, and environmental crisis into a sprawling, emotionally charged work that balances crushing heaviness with moments of stark beauty.

“This was now or never,” the band shares. “When you’ve spent a lifetime using this form of expression to purge and survive, it becomes detrimental to let it sit idle.”

The album stands as a testament to the band’s enduring philosophy, music not just as art, but as survival.

Aaron Turner Joins the Fold

Aaron Turner’s addition marks a significant moment in NEUROSIS’ history. Long considered a kindred spirit, his presence feels both natural and inevitable.

“His energy matches ours perfectly. It’s as if he was always meant to be there,” the band states.

Turner reflects on the collaboration:

“From the moment I first heard NEUROSIS over 30 years ago, I felt this was the music my heart and mind had been seeking… It is an honor to be welcomed into a band that shaped my perspective on the limitless possibilities of music.”

His contributions add new layers of intensity and texture, reinforcing the band’s signature balance between chaos and transcendence.

Sound, Vision, and Process

Recorded by Scott Evans at Studio Litho in Seattle and mixed at Antisleep Audio in Oakland, the album was brought to life in an unusually focused timeframe, tracked over three weekends and completed just weeks before release. The result is a raw yet immersive sonic experience that captures the immediacy of the band’s creative process.

Across eight tracks, NEUROSIS continue their tradition of shifting between tension and release, crafting a sound that is at once feral, meditative, and deeply human.

Track Listing:

  1. We Are Torn Wide Open
  2. Mirror Deep
  3. First Red Rays
  4. Blind
  5. Seething And Scattered
  6. Untethered
  7. In The Waiting Hours
  8. Last Light

Return to the Stage

In addition to the album release, NEUROSIS will make their long-awaited return to live performance at Fire In The Mountains on July 23, held on the ancestral lands of the Blackfeet Nation in Montana. The appearance comes by special invitation from the Firekeeper Alliance, which focuses on addressing youth suicide in Indigenous communities.

Guitarist/vocalist Steve Von Till describes the event as uniquely aligned with the band’s ethos:

“Using emotionally heavy music to build community and collectively stare darkness in the eye is something we’ve always believed in… This setting takes it to another level.”

A Necessary Return

NEUROSIS emphasize that this moment is not a reunion, but a continuation:

“We never broke up.”

With An Undying Love For A Burning World, the band once again proves their ability to evolve without losing their essence, delivering a work that is as devastating as it is healing, and as urgent as it is timeless.
