Los Angeles progressive power metal band NOVAREIGN has released “Thunder & Majesty,” the latest single from its upcoming sophomore album, Shifting The Axis Of The World, arriving July 17.
The new track follows the previously released singles “Ironsides” and “Sun & Moon,” continuing the buildup to the band’s long-awaited follow-up to its acclaimed 2018 debut, Legends.
According to vocalist Icarus Marquez, “Thunder & Majesty” has become one of the band’s favorite songs to perform live, not only because of its musical energy but also for its uplifting message. Written by guitarist Balmore Lemus, the song reflects one of the album’s central themes—moving beyond the burdens of the past while embracing the possibilities of the future. Marquez expressed hope that listeners will find the same inspiration in the song that the band has, encouraging them to keep looking toward new horizons.
Mixed and mastered by Alex Nasla, whose production credits include IMMORTAL GUARDIAN, WITHERFALL, and HELION PRIME, Shifting The Axis Of The World delivers nearly an hour of progressive power metal featuring intricate musicianship, dynamic guitar work, shifting rhythms, soaring melodies, and cinematic arrangements.
The new album marks NOVAREIGN’s first full-length release since Legends, which received widespread praise for its blend of epic songwriting and technical musicianship. Since that release, the band has shared stages with artists including MICHAEL SCHENKER, ANGRA, GLORYHAMMER, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, EXMORTUS, and WHITE WIZZARD, while also appearing at festivals such as Mad With Power, Hyperspace, Ruinfest, and Frost And Fire.
During the years between albums, NOVAREIGN underwent several lineup changes, welcoming drummer Ulises Hernandez, formerly of JUDICATOR and ANUBIS. Guitarist Balmore Lemus also remained active with projects including JUDICATOR, LUNAR, and DIRE PERIL while work on the new record continued.
