Old Machines, an extreme cosmic metal band featuring current and former members of Oxygen Destroyer, Skeletal Remains, Silver Talon, Thirsting Altar, and Dominus Nox, has released their second single, They Are Legion: The Tragic Exodus of the Veiled Creators, from their upcoming debut album, The Cycles of Extinction, set for release on August 22, 2025.

The single is available to stream on Bandcamp, YouTube, and other platforms. The album, a conceptual work, explores the lifespans of civilizations facing extinction, blending thrash, death, black, and power metal with influences from Bal-Sagoth, Emperor, Limbonic Art, Obsidian Gate, and Blind Guardian. The two-part single depicts a galactic empire’s downfall due to sentient AI rebellion, transitioning from chaotic guitars to mournful keyboards and a harpsichord synth, narrating the creators’ exile. The band comprises Gary Reavis (vocals), Jason Stares (keyboards), Brian Rush (guitar), Devon Miller (guitar), Joel Henigson (bass), and Chris Craven (drums).
