Texas crossover thrash band POWER TRIP have returned with two new singles, “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger,” available now via Blue Grape Music. The release marks the band’s first new studio recordings since the passing of original vocalist Riley Gale in 2020 and offers the first glimpse of their forthcoming full-length album, expected in spring 2027.

Featuring vocalist Seth Gilmore, who joined the band in 2023, the new material signals the beginning of a new chapter for POWER TRIP while maintaining the aggressive crossover thrash sound that established their reputation.

Recorded at Empire Sound in Carrollton, Texas, both tracks were produced by Jacob Hansen (ARCH ENEMY, VOLBEAT, AMON AMARTH) and co-produced by guitarist Blake Ibanez.

Drummer Chris Ulsh comments on the recording process:

“Recording worked out really well for us because he has the knowledge of making these big records, but also comes from the late 80’s extreme metal underground. We’re tough to please because we want something that sounds current, but most importantly we want it to sound like us, however that comes out.”

“Precinct 3” delivers a relentless combination of rapid-fire riffs, abrupt tempo changes, and crushing breakdowns. Driven by a 205 BPM pace, the track addresses the dangers of unchecked authority, drawing inspiration from the current sociopolitical climate.

Guitarist Blake Ibanez explains how the band approached the song while honoring Gale’s legacy:

“When we were writing this, we wondered what Riley would have wanted to write about. So once we decided on that approach, it honestly came really easily– the lyrics were flowing and it just felt like the right way to kick off this new chapter and honor him. I think he would have been stoked to see it come to fruition.”

The second single, “Scavenger,” takes a more groove-oriented approach, combining menacing mid-tempo riffs with the band’s signature hardcore-influenced intensity. Lyrically, the song explores individuals who exploit the accomplishments of others for personal recognition.

Vocalist Seth Gilmore comments:

“There are people out there that ride along and develop some sort of self-importance from association. And from there, they wield that in the wrong directions. Or maybe even against the same people they leeched it from.”

An official music video for “Precinct 3,” directed by Eric Richter, accompanies the release.

Both singles are available digitally and will receive a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl release featuring artwork by James Bousema. An exclusive edition with alternate artwork will also be available through independent record stores for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 27.

POWER TRIP have spent more than a year working on new material, with their upcoming studio album scheduled for spring 2027. The record will follow 2017’s acclaimed Nightmare Logic, marking the band’s first full-length release in a decade.

Formed in Dallas in 2008, POWER TRIP became one of the defining bands of modern crossover thrash through their albums Manifest Decimation (2013) and Nightmare Logic (2017). Following Gale’s death in 2020, the band gradually returned to live performances with Gilmore handling vocals.

The current lineup features Blake Ibanez and Nick Stewart on guitars, Chris Whetzel on bass, Chris Ulsh on drums, and Seth Gilmore on vocals.

With “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger,” POWER TRIP officially begin their next chapter, building toward their highly anticipated 2027 album.
