New York alternative metal band PRONG have released their new single and official music video, “New Commission,” ahead of their upcoming self-titled album, Prong, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, through Napalm Records. The record marks the band’s debut with the label and will be followed by a European tour beginning November 13.

Built around rapid-fire drumming, aggressive guitar riffs, and frontman Tommy Victor’s distinctive vocal delivery, “New Commission” draws heavily from the band’s thrash metal and hardcore influences. The track combines fast-paced sections with groove-oriented arrangements and a prominent breakdown, reflecting the musical elements that have characterized PRONG throughout their career.

Victor commented on the new single:

“This is a barn burner, banger thrasher of a song with a huge hook and a ferocious breakdown. It’s got it all!”

The song follows the album’s opening track, “The Banner,” which introduces the record’s combination of thrash-inspired instrumentation and melodic choruses. Together, the two compositions establish the aggressive direction of the band’s latest material.

Prong explores the band’s musical foundations

The upcoming album incorporates the various influences that have shaped PRONG‘s sound, including thrash metal, New York hardcore, industrial metal, and alternative metal.

While “New Commission” emphasizes speed and aggression, other compositions explore different aspects of the band’s musical identity. “The Uprising” introduces industrial textures and synthesizers over a driving rhythm, while “Uncertain Truth” places greater emphasis on melody and vocal hooks.

Tracks such as “Fear The Sun” and “Simulated Drowning” draw from the band’s hardcore and thrash influences, featuring aggressive rhythms and forceful guitar arrangements. Meanwhile, “Proportionate Response” addresses themes of retaliation and justice.

The album concludes with “Our Continuance,” a composition that combines deliberate rhythmic passages, dissonant guitar work, and synthesizer arrangements with a melodic chorus.

Lyrically, Victor explores subjects including truth, personal limitations, altruism, and the consequences of human behavior. These themes are presented through the band’s established combination of confrontational lyrics and heavy instrumentation.

Prong was mixed and mastered by producer Andy Sneap, whose work includes recordings with JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT, and TESTAMENT.
