UK heavy metallers RATTLESNAKES have released their take on the classic “And The Bands Played On”, originally by Saxon. The track is out now via Listenable Records, accompanied by an official visualizer.
The original song appears on Saxon’s iconic album Denim and Leather and was inspired by their legendary performance at the Monsters of Rock 1980, a defining moment in heavy metal history that captured the spirit of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Carrying the Heavy Metal Torch
RATTLESNAKES shared their motivation behind the cover:
“‘And The Bands Played On’ is a song that collectively created a plethora of joyous memories for us all… We wanted to put our spin on this awesome track by emphasizing vocal harmonies… and bring light upon The Mighty Saxon for the younger generations of rockers by carrying the everlasting torch of HEAVY METAL THUNDER!”
Their version leans into soaring harmonies and classic metal energy while staying true to the spirit of the original, bridging generations of heavy metal fans.
