Modern metal band SICKSENSE have returned with their explosive new single and official music video, “Newsflash,” signaling a bold new era for the band and teasing more music to come later this year.
“Newsflash” captures the frustration of navigating a world obsessed with conformity while transforming that tension into an anthem of individuality and self-expression.
Frontwoman Vicky Psarakis described the song as a celebration of authenticity:
“Newsflash is about being unapologetically you. We live in a world where people feel a constant pressure to fit into societal standards… ‘Everyone’s a freak’ is the hook that empowers you to embrace being different.”
Co-vocalist Robby J. Fonts added:
“People love finding excuses to tear others down… Newsflash is about pointing out that irony and telling everyone: ‘I’m going to live my life how I choose without worrying about what you think of me.’”
The track also marks a sonic evolution for the band, reconnecting with the aggressive energy of their early material while pushing their sound into darker and heavier territory.
Originally formed in Montreal, SICKSENSE emerged from the creative partnership between Vicky Psarakis — formerly of The Agonist — and Robby J. Fonts, previously known for his work with Stuck Mojo.
Since debuting with “Make Believe” in 2021, the band has steadily built momentum through their fusion of metalcore, nu metal, rap metal, and progressive influences. Their EPs Kings Today and Fools Tomorrow established the band as a rising force in modern heavy music.
In 2025, SICKSENSE released their debut full-length album, Cross Me Twice, through Earache Records. The album charted at #10 on the UK Rock and Metal Album chart and #33 on the UK Independent chart.
The band has toured extensively alongside acts including Escape the Fate, Snot, The Union Underground, Spineshank, and Calva Louise, while also appearing at Louder Than Life in 2025.
Now operating independently once again, the band is embracing complete creative freedom while continuing to evolve their sound with producer Joey Doherty.

Outside of music, Vicky Psarakis has contributed voice work to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Dead by Daylight, and the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 franchises.
Meanwhile, Robby J. Fonts voiced Jonathan Byers for the Stranger Things chapter of Dead by Daylight and trained at Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy.
