SICKSENSE Unleash New Single “Artificial Irrelevance,” Announce Upcoming EP Funerals

Modern metal band SICKSENSE has released its explosive new single, “Artificial Irrelevance,” alongside the announcement of its forthcoming EP, Funerals, due out September 25, 2026.

Blending crushing riffs, rap-infused vocals, soaring melodies, and relentless energy, “Artificial Irrelevance” serves as a sharp commentary on social media culture, online personas, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in modern life. The track explores the disconnect between curated digital identities and reality while addressing concerns about AI-generated content and its impact on artistic expression.

Vocalist Robby J. Fonts describes the song as a critique of modern internet culture, highlighting how people become consumed by online validation and engagement metrics while presenting versions of themselves that differ from reality.

Co-vocalist Vicky Psarakis expands on the theme, pointing to the rise of AI-generated content and the increasingly blurred line between authentic and artificial experiences online. She notes that artists across creative industries are facing challenges as AI-generated works become more prevalent and harder to distinguish from human-created content.

The accompanying music video satirizes contemporary internet culture by placing each band member in exaggerated online personas while contrasting those scenes with live performance footage filmed at Nile Underground in Mesa, Arizona. According to the band, the visual concept reinforces the idea that genuine human connection and live performance remain irreplaceable.

Musically, “Artificial Irrelevance” showcases the continued evolution of SICKSENSE’s sound. Working alongside producer Joey Doherty, the band pushes further into dynamic territory, combining elements of metalcore, nu metal, djent, rap metal, and modern alternative metal into a distinctive sonic identity.

The new single also serves as the first glimpse into Funerals, a four-track EP that continues the band’s progression following their 2025 debut full-length album, Cross Me Twice. After signing with Earache Records in 2023 and achieving chart success in the United Kingdom, SICKSENSE returned to their independent roots in 2026, embracing complete creative freedom for future releases.

Formed by vocalists Vicky Psarakis and Robby J. Fonts, SICKSENSE has built a reputation for combining aggressive heaviness, memorable melodies, and fearless experimentation. Their lineup is completed by guitarist Jackson Snowden, bassist Richard Regier, and drummer Sam Neumann.
