French folk band SKÁLD have released their new single “Himinbjǫrg,” the second track taken from their upcoming album, Ørlǫg, due September 25, 2026, via Napalm Records.
Driven by commanding percussion, traditional instrumentation and layered vocals, “Himinbjǫrg” reaches to the edge of Asgard, where Heimdall stands guard over Bifröst, the rainbow bridge. SKÁLD give the mythological guardian an assertive voice, turning the song into an emphatic yet reassuring guide through the uncertainties of destiny.
The band comments:
“‘Himinbjǫrg’ invites us to step onto the threshold, to the gateway at the edge of the sky, to face the guardian’s gaze—are we ready to be judged as we reach the end of the bridge? These cliffs in the sky are a mirror of our actions, our ambitions, our Ørlǫg; it is a long journey toward something greater — let us ride on without fear.”

Ørlǫg marks SKÁLD’s first album with Napalm Records and features ten new songs inspired by Norse mythology, Skaldic poetry and ancient musical traditions. Its title refers to the cosmic web connecting birth, past actions and the choices that continually shape the future.
Throughout the record, SKÁLD combine Nordic fiddles, harps, lyres, horns, kannels and whistles with percussion, throat singing and multiple lead vocalists. The album moves through shamanic prophecy, mythology and ancient landscapes, from opener “Draumakona” and the haunting chants of “Ratatoskr” to the traditional Norwegian folk ballad “Heiemo og Nykkjen.”
The journey concludes with “Eldr ok iss,” Old Norse for “fire and ice,” which draws upon the Norse creation myth and the collision of the fiery Muspelheim with icy Niflheim.

SKÁLD will support The HU on the Warrior Chant Tour this fall, beginning September 29 in Glasgow and continuing throughout the UK and Europe before wrapping up October 31 in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.
