Florida’s Southern Gothic black metal band THE NOCTAMBULANT have released the new single and accompanying video for “San Martino”, offering another glimpse into their upcoming full-length album, Revival. The record is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026, via Terminus Hate City.
Inspired by Southern Gothic folklore and steeped in themes of mystery and the supernatural, “San Martino” tells the story of a legendary Florida monastery said to have been consumed by the surrounding swamp.
“‘San Martino’ tells the legend of the lost Florida monastery swallowed by the swamp—a tale eerily similar to that of Roanoke,” the band explains. “It’s believed that the faithful disturbed ancient spirits, and the creatures of the swamp exacted a deadly price for their intrusion.”
Musically, “San Martino” combines explosive percussion, rapid-fire rhythms, and harsh blackened vocals before shifting into haunting spoken-word passages during the chorus. The contrast between aggression and atmosphere reinforces the song’s unsettling narrative, creating an ominous sense of dread throughout.
Revival was recorded at Tri-Rush Studios, where it was engineered and produced by E. Helvete and D. Franseth. Mixing and mastering duties were handled by Daniel Thabet at Liquid Studios, while Dream Creatures created the album artwork.

Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2013, THE NOCTAMBULANT blend black metal, blackened death metal, Southern Gothic, blues, rockabilly, and American country influences into a distinctive sound inspired by Appalachian folklore and Southern mythology. Founded by guitarist/vocalist E. Helvete and drummer D. Franseth following the dissolution of their psychobilly band, the group later expanded with bassist Lars G and lead guitarist Rev. Beaumont.
Drawing influence from pioneering extreme metal acts including VENOM, CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, and DARK FUNERAL, THE NOCTAMBULANT fuse relentless blackened aggression with eerie storytelling rooted in ancient legends, ghost stories, and the haunting landscapes of the American South.
