TRIVIUM have unleashed their latest single, “Dead Inside of Me,” offering the first taste of the Florida metal band’ forthcoming eleventh studio album.

The track marks the band’s first new music from the upcoming record, the follow-up to 2021’s In the Court of the Dragon. Further details about the album have yet to be announced.

Premiered on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, “Dead Inside of Me” combines modern thrash riffs, massive grooves, aggressive rhythms, melodic hooks, and the guitar work that has become a defining element of TRIVIUM’s sound.

The band — Matthew K. Heafy on vocals and guitar, Corey Beaulieu on guitar, Paolo Gregoletto on bass, and Alex Rüdinger on drums — have also released an official music video directed by Pavel Trebukhin.

The Story Behind “Dead Inside of Me”

According to Gregoletto, the track emerged near the end of a writing session last summer from a riff he had been holding onto for several years.

“‘Dead Inside Of Me’ was a song that came together at the end of a long day of writing new music last summer. It started with a riff I’d had kicking around for five or six years called ‘Slam,’ looping over a simple groove,” Gregoletto explains.

The bassist says the band built the song by combining contrasting musical ideas, including death metal riffing with the scale and groove of a stadium rock track.

“Let the screaming and singing weave together until they feel like one voice,” he adds. “Being able to explain the idea that simply as the song was coming together helped keep us laser-focused and on track to see the vision through to the end.”

Lyrically, “Dead Inside of Me” draws inspiration from the Japanese concepts of honne and tatemae, exploring the tension between a person’s private feelings and the outward identity they present to others.

TRIVIUM Hit the Road This Fall

The release arrives ahead of TRIVIUM’s massive North American headline tour, which begins November 5 in St. Petersburg, Florida, and concludes December 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The run features IN FLAMES, ORBIT CULTURE, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and FROZEN SOUL, with TRIVIUM describing the tour as the beginning of their next chapter.

“This fall’s Trivium tour is a huge one for us,” the band said. “The lineup is stacked from top to bottom, and we’re honored to have special guests In Flames, who not only influenced our early years but continue to prove time and again why they’re one of the greatest metal bands of all time.”

The band added that the tour will give audiences their first opportunity to experience material from the next era of TRIVIUM with Rüdinger behind the kit.
